Welcome to one of the world’s greatest exhibitions of student architecture. This year, in response to the Covid-19 pandemic, The Bartlett School of Architecture’s Summer Show is presented exclusively online for the first time. You can explore a range of ambitious and creative work, from models and drawings, to films, multimedia projects, immersive environments and digital fabrications, which will challenge what you think of as architecture and the role of the architect.
Barbara-Ann Campbell-Lange, Acting Director, and Bob Sheil, Director, The Bartlett School of Architecture
Our students’ ambitious projects address themes including housing, healthcare, equality and social justice, climate change and environmental sustainability. They are examined and interrogated through proposals that are ambitious and creative, yet playful and experimental. The show includes works presented by over 700 students from four degree programmes at The Bartlett School of Architecture, UCL, which are curated into 32 themed spaces. Some of these represent groups of students or programmes while others represent design units. Our design units are a signature feature of design teaching at the school. They are communities of about 16 students working closely with tutors to address a new theme each year. In the Architecture BSc and MArch programmes, units are initialled either UG (undergraduate) or PG (postgraduate) and numbered.
You are invited to hear from our students directly and explore their work further in a series of online events, including themed tours and late evening talks.
