A Celebration for Goole

Project details

Student Mei See (Joyce) Leung
Programme
Unit PG15
Year 4

This project celebrates the glory of Goole's shipbuilding industry. It proposes giving symbiotic meaning to Goole by protecting and restoring its lost shipping heritage. By amalgamating all the different typologies of ships documented in each period, the new profile of the building celebrates the existence of the shipping industry. As it is a place for celebration, the building will be used as a wedding registry office for the people in Goole as well as a place for receiving blessings from other countries as people enter Goole. At the beginning of their new journey in life, people are reminded of their roots, of the glorious shipbuilding industry and look forward to their new journey.
