This project is a 'Disneyfied' castle located at the Lido inlet of the Venetian lagoon. A series of problems, such as natural disasters, high levels of tourism and self-contradictions are major threats for Venice. Under the assumption that Venice could be saved under the operation of the Disney Corporation, this giant castle will serve as a monumental entrance to 'Veniceland'.

Based on Filippo Marinetti's novel Venezianella e Studentaccio (2013), the castle builds a New Venice with the construction of an enormous vertical sculpture. The architectural elements of famous Venetian buildings are used, which is similar to the design methodology for the Disney castles. Fragments of Venetian building façades form a 300m collaged castle that can be seen everywhere in the lagoon without destroying the classical landscape of the historic centre. To retain both the features of the Venetian architecture and the anthropomorphic style according to Marinetti's novel, this project uses a machine learning algorithm called CycleGAN. Through the image-to-image translation algorithm, images of Venetian building façades and Disney cartoon characters could be trained to achieve a style transfer between Venetian culture and Disney narrative.
