The Space Debris Cemetery

Project details

Student Bill Xu
Programme
Unit UG7
Year 3

Located at missile silo 31B at Cape Canaveral, the building pays homage to the 1986 wreckage of the Space Shuttle Challenger. As part of its role, it is an archive and museum for the ever-increasing collection of space debris floating in Earth's orbit. Part building, part technological experience, the architecture is built around the ‘grave’ of Challenger, celebrating those lost through the intangible desire of humanity to explore the boundaries of space and beyond.
